What styles of dance do you teach?
We teach many styles of ballroom and social dancing, including International Latin, American Rhythm, International Standard, and American Smooth Styles. Specific dances include Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Rhumba, Salsa, Samba, Merengue, Paso Doble, Jive, Bolero, and five kinds of Swing.
What does your slogan (We Teach Skills, Not Steps) mean?
After you take lessons with us, you should be able to dance with people who know how to dance, but also people who do not. Teaching the skill of dancing is more complex, but will allow the student to understand how the body creates movement and utilize lead and follow.
How do I schedule lessons for an event, such as a wedding, cruise, party, etc?
If you are learning for a specific occasion, we recommend that you start as early as possible, allowing time for at least five-ten lessons. This will allow time to get comfortable with the movements so that on your special day everything will flow smoothly. If you have a particular song in mind, please bring it with you so we can match the song to a specific dance perfectly.
What do I wear to a dance lesson?
Shoes should have a leather or suade bottom - no tennis shoes please! Ladies usually wear a high-heeled shoe, but flats are fine as long as they are secured around the ankle. Dressy casual is a safe way to dress for any dance lesson. Jeans are not always forgiving enough for movement unless they are stretchy. Skirts for the ladies are fine, but make sure they are not too tight around the bottom, as that can inhibit movement. Comfortable slacks and shirts are good choices.
